Section 01
Quality Management Certifications
AS9100 — Aerospace Quality Management System
Issuing Body: International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG) / Third-Party Registrar
What It Means: AS9100 is the internationally recognized quality management system standard for the aerospace and defense manufacturing industry. It is based on ISO 9001 but adds aerospace-specific requirements including risk management, configuration management, first article inspection, key characteristics, and more stringent process control requirements. AS9100 certification requires a successful third-party audit by an accredited registrar and annual surveillance audits.
Why It Matters: Most aerospace prime contractors — including Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman — require AS9100 certification as a minimum qualification for suppliers. Without AS9100, a fabricator cannot qualify for most aerospace and defense programs regardless of their actual quality capability.
ISO 9001 — Quality Management System
Issuing Body: International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Third-Party Registrar
What It Means: ISO 9001 is the globally recognized foundation quality management standard, covering customer focus, process approach, evidence-based decision making, and continual improvement. It is a prerequisite for AS9100 certification. ISO 9001 certification demonstrates that MJM operates a documented, audited quality management system that consistently produces conforming products.
Why It Matters: Required by most OEM supply chains as a minimum supplier qualification. Combined with AS9100, it demonstrates a comprehensive quality system covering both general manufacturing and aerospace-specific requirements.
MIL-I-45208A — Military Inspection System Requirements
Issuing Body: U.S. Department of Defense
What It Means: MIL-I-45208A is a military standard for inspection system requirements covering documentation, inspection procedures, calibration systems, and process controls for defense manufacturing. It predates modern ISO standards but remains referenced in older program specifications and government contracts.
Why It Matters: Required by some legacy defense programs and government contracts that reference older military standards. MJM maintains MIL-I-45208A compliance alongside our AS9100 and ISO 9001 certifications.
Section 02
Defense & Government Registrations
ITAR — International Traffic in Arms Regulations
Issuing Body: U.S. Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC)
What It Means: MJM Manufacturing is registered with the U.S. State Department under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. ITAR registration is a legal requirement — not a quality certification — that authorizes MJM to manufacture, handle, and ship defense articles and controlled technical data covered under the United States Munitions List (USML). MJM maintains controlled access to ITAR-protected technical data and screens personnel with access to controlled information.
Why It Matters: Required for any program involving controlled defense technology. A fabricator without ITAR registration cannot legally participate in most defense and government programs or receive controlled technical drawings and specifications.
CAGE Code 0YLX1 — Commercial and Government Entity Code
Issuing Body: Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), U.S. Department of Defense
What It Means: MJM Manufacturing’s CAGE Code is 0YLX1. A CAGE Code is a five-character identifier assigned by the Defense Logistics Agency to identify companies doing business with the U.S. government. It is used in government procurement systems, contract awards, and supplier qualification databases.
Why It Matters: Required for U.S. government contracting, DoD programs, and prime contractor supplier qualification. Procurement officers can use CAGE Code 0YLX1 to verify MJM in government procurement systems.
SAM.gov — System for Award Management
Issuing Body: U.S. General Services Administration (GSA)
What It Means: MJM Manufacturing is registered and active on SAM.gov — the official U.S. government database required for federal contracting, subcontracting, and grant eligibility. Registration must be renewed annually to remain active. Verify MJM’s registration at SAM.gov using CAGE Code 0YLX1.
Why It Matters: Required for any company seeking to do business directly with the federal government or as a subcontractor on government-funded programs including defense, transportation, energy, and infrastructure projects.

AWS D17.1 — Aerospace Fusion Welding · Lockheed Martin Program Approved
The American Welding Society standard for fusion welding of aerospace hardware. AWS D17.1 is significantly more stringent than commercial welding codes and is required for structural and non-structural welds on aerospace programs. MJM holds Lockheed Martin program approval under D17.1 — one of the most demanding aerospace welding qualifications available. Supported by qualified WPS and PQR documentation.
AWS D1.1 — Structural Welding Code (Steel)
Primary standard for structural steel welding used in defense, industrial, and construction applications. Supported by qualified WPS and PQR documentation and certified welder performance qualification records (WPQR).
AWS D1.2 — Structural Welding Code (Aluminum)
Standard for structural aluminum welding on aerospace and defense assemblies, support structures, and enclosures. Separate qualification from steel welding. Supported by qualified WPS and PQR documentation.
AWS D9.1M — Sheet Metal Welding Code
The primary welding standard for precision sheet metal components and assemblies. Most directly applicable to MJM’s core fabrication work. Supported by qualified WPS and PQR documentation for both GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) processes.
Lloyd’s Register — LR 33932
Lloyd’s Register is a globally recognized third-party quality assurance and certification body. LR approval (certification number LR 33932) for MJM’s welding procedures and welder qualifications provides independent third-party validation of our welding quality systems — a credential used in aerospace, marine, and defense manufacturing programs worldwide.
Section 04
Supplier Diversity & Small Business
DBE — Disadvantaged Business Enterprise
MJM Manufacturing is a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE). DBE certification is recognized by federal and state transportation agencies and is required for supplier participation in government-funded transportation projects administered under FTA and FHWA programs. Prime contractors with DBE participation goals can count MJM toward their DBE subcontracting requirements.
NMSDC — National Minority Supplier Development Council
Issuing Body: National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC)
MJM Manufacturing holds NMSDC Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) certification — one of the most recognized and respected minority business certifications in the United States. The NMSDC is a national organization that certifies minority-owned businesses and connects them with major corporations and government entities that have supplier diversity commitments. NMSDC MBE certification is recognized by Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, and prime contractors with supplier diversity requirements across all industries.
Minority-Owned Business — Hispanic American Owned
MJM Manufacturing is a certified Hispanic American owned small business, founded by Mike Mijares in 1979. This certification qualifies MJM for supplier diversity programs, minority business enterprise (MBE) set-aside requirements, and subcontracting goals on government and commercial programs with supplier diversity requirements.
Small Business Concern — SBA Recognized
MJM Manufacturing is recognized as a Small Business Concern by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). This designation qualifies MJM for government small business set-aside programs and subcontracting requirements on federal contracts where small business participation is mandated.
Dun & Bradstreet — D-U-N-S Registered
MJM Manufacturing holds a D-U-N-S number through Dun & Bradstreet. D&B registration is required for federal contracting, SAM.gov registration, and supplier qualification with major OEM prime contractors. The D-U-N-S number is used by procurement systems worldwide to identify and verify business entities.
DFARS — Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement
Issuing Body: U.S. Department of Defense
What It Means: DFARS is the supplement to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) that applies specifically to Department of Defense contracts. The most critical DFARS clause for sheet metal fabricators is DFARS 252.225-7014 — Specialty Metals Compliance — which requires that specialty metals used in defense items (including aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, and other alloys) be melted or produced in the United States. As a Miami-based, Made in USA manufacturer sourcing domestically produced materials, MJM Manufacturing meets DFARS specialty metals requirements.
Why It Matters: DFARS compliance is a mandatory requirement for many DoD prime contracts and subcontracts. Defense prime contractors actively screen their supply chain for DFARS compliance — particularly on programs involving aircraft, missiles, ships, and ground defense systems. MJM’s domestic manufacturing and domestic material sourcing supports DFARS compliance for your defense programs.
