The Challenge

A national data center infrastructure company expanding multiple facilities across the United States needed a reliable fabrication partner for server rack enclosures, cable management trays, and mounting hardware. Volume requirements were high — over 1,000 units per project phase — and delivery windows were tied directly to construction schedules with no flexibility for late shipments.

The customer’s previous supplier had struggled with consistency across high-volume runs, leading to fit issues during installation and costly field rework. They needed a manufacturer with the capacity, quality systems, and scheduling discipline to deliver consistent parts at volume on time, every time.

The MJM Solution

MJM Manufacturing’s CNC turret punch presses were the right tool for this program — high-speed, highly repeatable production of the standard hole patterns, knockouts, and mounting slots required across the enclosure and tray designs. CNC fiber laser cutting was used for the more complex perimeter geometries and custom cutouts.

Press brake forming ensured consistent bend angles across every unit — critical for rack enclosures that need to mate precisely with standard EIA-310 rack hardware. Hardware insertion was performed in-house, with cage nuts, clip nuts, and mounting studs installed per the customer’s assembly specifications.

Powder coat finishing in customer-specified RAL colors was coordinated through our finishing partners and managed within our quality system. Parts were shipped in release quantities of 200–400 units on a bi-weekly schedule, timed to the customer’s facility construction milestones. Over 1,200 units were delivered across the program with zero installation fit issues reported.
