MJM’s Fiber Laser Fleet
Amada Ventis — Flagship Fiber Laser System · LAPIS Beam Technology
The Amada Ventis is Amada’s most advanced fiber laser platform, featuring LAPIS (Locus of Active Path on Irradiated Surface) beam shaping technology. This proprietary system dynamically optimizes the laser beam shape for each material and thickness — delivering superior cut quality, faster processing speeds, and cleaner edges than conventional fiber lasers.
Technology: LAPIS beam shaping · Assist Gas: Nitrogen & oxygen · Edge Quality: Burr-minimized, oxide-free · Best For: Thin to heavy gauge, all metals
4 Additional Amada Fiber Laser Systems — High Volume Production Capacity
MJM’s four additional Amada fiber laser cutting machines provide high-volume production capacity across all gauges and materials. Running simultaneously, MJM’s five-machine fleet supports urgent prototype turns and large production runs without compromising lead time.
Capacity: 5 lasers running simultaneously · Volume: Prototype through high-volume · Scheduling: Computerized & tracked · Lead Time: Based on your program needs

Fiber Laser Cutting — FAQ
What is fiber laser cutting?
Fiber laser cutting uses a solid-state laser beam transmitted through optical fiber to cut metal with extreme precision. Faster than CO2 on thin to medium gauge metals, fiber lasers cut reflective metals like aluminum, copper, and brass effectively and produce cleaner edges with a smaller heat-affected zone.
What fiber laser cutting systems does MJM operate?
MJM Manufacturing operates five Amada fiber laser cutting systems, including the Amada Ventis — one of the most advanced fiber laser platforms available, featuring LAPIS beam shaping technology for superior cut quality across all materials and gauges.
How accurate is fiber laser cutting at MJM?
MJM’s Amada fiber laser systems hold tolerances of ±0.005″ on most materials and gauges. For aerospace and defense programs, MJM follows documented tolerance standards and provides first article inspection reports upon request.
What is nitrogen assist laser cutting?
Nitrogen assist uses high-pressure nitrogen gas instead of oxygen to blow molten material away from the cut zone — resulting in an oxide-free, bright edge on stainless steel and aluminum. Ideal for parts that will be welded, powder coated, plated, or left with a natural finish. MJM uses nitrogen assist on stainless, aluminum, and other materials where edge quality is critical.
Does MJM do AS9100 certified fiber laser cutting?
Yes. MJM Manufacturing is AS9100 certified, ISO 9001 certified, and ITAR registered — making MJM one of the only fiber laser cutting shops in Florida fully qualified for aerospace and defense programs. MJM also holds AWS D17.1 aerospace welding certification with Lockheed Martin program approval.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between fiber and CO2 laser cutting?
Wavelength. A fiber laser produces roughly a 1 micron beam, about a tenth the wavelength of CO2. Metal absorbs it far more efficiently, so fiber cuts thin and mid-gauge material several times faster, uses less power to do it, and handles reflective metals that send a CO2 beam back into the machine. CO2 still has a place on heavy plate and on some non-metals, which is why we kept one.
Which materials cut better on a fiber laser?
Anything reflective, and anything thin. Copper, brass and beryllium copper are the clearest case, since they are difficult to impossible on CO2. Thin stainless and aluminum are the biggest speed gain. On mild steel over about half an inch the gap narrows and assist gas selection matters more than the source.
How does the Amada ENSIS variable beam work?
The resonator changes the beam diameter itself, tuning the laser mode and the beam parameter product to the material thickness on the table. Older machines needed a lens change to move between thin and thick work. ENSIS does not, so a job that mixes 16 gauge and half inch runs without an operator stopping to swap optics and requalify the cut.
What is Locus Beam Control on the Ventis?
Energy density drops as material gets thicker, which is what limits a fiber laser on heavy plate. Locus Beam Control steers the beam through a programmed pattern inside the kerf instead of holding it in one spot, so the cut face stays clean deeper into the material. It is how a mid-power fiber machine produces edge quality on thick stainless that used to require far more wattage.
Do fiber laser cut parts have a burr?
Cut with nitrogen at the right parameters, edges come off clean enough to weld or powder coat with no secondary work, which is the entire point of running nitrogen. Oxygen cutting on heavy carbon steel leaves an oxide layer that has to come off before finishing. When a part needs a uniform cosmetic edge we run it through wet deburring here rather than shipping something you have to touch up.
What thickness is the practical limit for fiber laser cutting?
On our machines: mild and hot rolled steel to 1 inch, stainless and aluminum to 0.625 inch, copper and brass to 0.375 inch. Those are the numbers we cut in production, not headline maximums. Past that you are into plasma, waterjet or saw work, and we will tell you when a part belongs on a different process instead of quoting something we would have to fight.
Can you cut and form the same part?
Yes, and it is why the flat pattern matters. We develop the flat in house so the bend deductions match the press brake tooling the part will actually run on. Five lasers, nine Amada forming machines, welding, hardware and inspection are all in one building in Miami Gardens, so a cut part does not leave the property to become a finished part.
